Backdoor.IRCBot.SC is a virus with high damage potential. It is one of the sophisticated viruses that first create a thread to check if it is being debugged by a user level debugger. It copies itself into the Windows system directory as a windows service with the name “wgareg”. Since it registers as a Windows service, it is started by the Windows OS itself upon its termination after all files have been installed.Backdoor.IRCBot.SC disables the Windows security firewall and antivirus monitors to carry out its operations smoothly. It is referred to as a Bot because it allows a remote attacker to take control of the infected system. It is used to launch distributed denial of services (DDOS) attacks.
